old hobby/new hobby?

I hadn't played the recorder since I was at primary school, till a sub-group of book group decided to set ourselves up as "recorder group". The daughter of one of the members, on finding her mother practising remarked that playing the recorder is not a suitable occupation for a mature woman. What a very Jane Austenish remark!
I'm not sure whether this counts as an old hobby revived or a new hobby since the gap is about forty no, forty five- no it can't be that many years, surely?
We are starting with the book pictured and hoping to work our way up to baroque recorder music via Simon and Garfunkle's sound of silence (which may be what our families are craving). We've had the first session, which was great fun. The two cats at the house where we played seem to really like recorder music and stayed around and purred.
