Ibis, looking for a chimney breast?
Next day, again. (as opposed to Next again day)
Up with the lark, or perhaps even before then. Disagreements about the time. Not the time we were to meet our guide, but the time NOW, in the dark. Portents of things to come.
Trailed through fallow fields, hedgerows of prickly stuff, muddy holes, etc., etc., spotting birds aplenty, themselves just awakening to the new dawn.
Fortunately the mozzies decided to have a long lie as it's Sunday.
We saw Kingfishers, Drongos, Bitterns, Black winged storks, Brahmini kites, Black kites, Shrikes, Bee eaters, Indian Pond herons, Little grey herons, Darters, Common Coots, Red wattled Lapwing, Crow pheasants, Babblers, Koels, Nightingales, Woodpecker, Pea hens, Golden Oriole, Magpie robins, House crows, Bulbuls, Mynas, Ibis, and a wee cock sparrow.
Much enlightened after an hour and a half, we repaired to the hotel for b'fast and then the pool for a bit of a roast. Not too sure about going back in the sea until I've found a source of vinegar. Now, one might be excused for thinking that in the land of Vindaloo, vinegar might be readily available, but no, not so far, but then, it is Sunday, still.
(The Portuguese are responsible for Vindaloo, particularly for pork, adding “Vin” wine / vinegar and multiples of chilli to preserve, or perhaps recover or disguise the meat, in days of yore.)
Returning to the first paragraph hereof, it transpired that my watch was malfunctioning, having been immersed in seawater some days ago. I had dried it out with Sue's hairdrier, but apparently with no long term prognosis. So I today bought a new one, @ 300Inr.
For those readers who do not know me, I have a propensity to purchase cheap watches wherever I go, currently having some twenty or so. (I have a few goodies as well)
Critics please not that this latest acquisition only restores the status quo, leaving me moral grounds for further purchase(s).
The last extra is not a bird, I accept, but I believe it can fly ;-)
