Spices galore, Margoa market, Goa
Another day in March, Indistinguishable from the previous. (Hot, Hot, Hot)
Up early to get breakfast over and hence to the beach before roast o'clock. On the beds 09:00, and under the brolly by 10:30. Enough is enough. Plus, on my second swim I must have swum through a shoal of jellyfish. Tingling all over, gradually becoming painful. Sought vinegar from the beach shack but they only had fresh lemon, the juice of which was liberally applied. It worked!
Lunched at the beach then, after a cleansing beer & shower, we took a tuktuk up to Margoa, the local town, to visit the market and purchase some spices and Jaggery to take home.
I was also seeking a seamstress to alter a shirt, and made the mistake of asking in the market. Very friendly and helpful people, but the all want you to visit their shop en-route to wherever. Be aware, once inside the trap, very difficult to get out without a purchase.
Tuktuked back to Benaulim, and found a tailor shop. Needless to say, they wanted to make me a new shirt or two, rather than simply shorten the sleeves of mine. Eventually reached good humoured agreement, he asked if I wanted both sleeves done, and a bargain was struck at 100Inr or £1.15, ready tomorrow.
Main photo is of the same stall I purchased from 2 years ago. Extra is the Jaggery pyramids, and a fishing boat being launched.
Yesterday evening we came across Silva, the postcode man, and agreed to go birdwatching with him as guide and spotter, so up early tomorrow for a 06:40 start. Very precise wee man hence the odd start time.
Bash on . . .
