Tesla Car in Space, Herbie the Love Bug on Earth

In Port Perry today we saw a replica of Herbie the Love Bug in a Tim Hortons parking lot. Overhead, at about the exact same time, Elon Musk launched his red Tesla Roadster (with a mannequin in a space suit - nicknamed Starman after David Bowie's song - at the wheel) as part of the maiden test launch of his Falcon Heavy Rocket from Florida. SpaceX is one of his companies and the rocket is the biggest every launched. Bigger than the Apollo rockets. Bigger than the old Soviet/Russian Energia Rockets. The test went swimmingly and the car was deployed into a comet-like heliocentric orbit. If undisturbed, it will orbit the sun for a billion years or so. More info here.
