Looks Good To Me

The Thin Blue Line

Cynthia took me to Fairhaven this evening to finalize the purchase of our new used car -- a 2007 Subaru Trooper. My blip was going to be a photo of the car, but when I saw this as I was driving it home, I decided to let C do the car blip.

Bellingham artist Christen Mattix is knitting a rope that will reach from this location on 16th street to the waters of Bellingham Bay at Taylor Dock -- a distance of half a mile. She started in May (I think she said), and is about halfway there.

She tries to spend an hour knitting every day, usually from 8 to 9 a.m. It was much later when I saw her today and getting dark, which explains the poor photo quality. It was also raining, but that doesn't deter Christen. Rain or shine, she unrolls her rope, knits for an hour, and rolls it back up again.

The yarn color is appropriately called Ocean.

You can read more about the project in this Bellingham Herald article.
