Backblipped on Sunday


Hell of a day would be more accurate :-/
It started out ok with a different photo group meeting but then I had to cancel lunch with a friend to get back to wait for a fencing contractor who was coming to give us a quote for replacing a couple of panels damaged in the recent storms and a new side gate ( hubby had to go out unexpectedly).
Said contractor cancelled just before dark due to an emergency :-/
We settled down to watch TV in the evening when just after 9pm my brother phoned and said mum had broken into while she sat watching TV..........someone forced her front door open with a large screwdriver!!
Fortunately she had a second front door because she had the outside one fitted to an open porch.......this is an old fashioned wooden door and was closed, which slowed the intruders down but they tried to force that one and shoulder it open, which is when mum heard them.......so she shouted at them to go away and that she had called the police, which made them run off, thank goodness.
She then called my brother but wouldn't let him call the police ( she hadn't actually done it) because she was too tired .........she had managed to close and lock the outside door that had been forced and said she just wanted to go to bed........my brother didn't know what to do!!
We phoned her a couple of times in the ensuing couple of hours but she was adamant " no police" ........as there had been no further sign of the intruders we left it till the morning but both of us had sleepless nights :-(
