Muizenberg and Kalk
Last night was incredibly windy which continued into the day and put paid to our plans of a few hours on our local beach, Camps Bay (South Africa). Instead we went for a drive to the lovely towns of Kalk and Muizenburg. We enjoyed a good walk around Kelk and had refreshments at the harbour cafe. The blip extra shows a ship in harbour with the old Fishermans Cottages (built 1945) on the side of the hill behind it.
The only thing I wanted to see in Muizenburg was the iconic bright coloured Beach Huts saved from removal by the council after a Facebook campaign. The town is important in the history of South Africa due to the Battle of Muizenberg which was a small but significant military affair that began on 7 August 1795 and ended three months later with the (first) British occupation of the Cape!
