Breen Down from Weston Super Mare

An enjoyable day in Weston. The meeting was not until 11.00am giving me time for a leisurely breakfast and to walk the 3 miles from the hotel to the venue in the Winter Gardens. The Gardens, not Gardens at all, are very posh. We met in a very nice room overlooking the beach and the promenade.

The three hours in the meeting passed quickly, we were well fed and I was able to stuff my lunch box with some of the leftovers for the journey back, thus saving having to buy a meal in the evening. I then had 4 hours to while away until the train at 6.00pm.

That called for an exploration of the town and the seafront. The heavy rain and strong winds of the previous night had given way to a bright, clear day with good visibility and sharp light. What better for a blipper?

The sea lived up to its reputation of being elusive. It was a long way out when I arrived at the Winter Gardens at 10.30 and was just as far out when I left for the railway station at 5.30. The tide did come in it seems as the beach was wet and glistened in the bright sunshine. I took a stroll along the pier, surprised at being charged £1 given that nothing was open but it provided the opportunity for today's shot which of one of the threatened showers passing to the south. There were many shots I could have posted but this is the one I liked best. All it needed were some people walking across the glistening sands. I have included just one in extras.

The journey back was on time, the tube obliging meaning I was able to catch an earlier train to Bearsted which rounded off a very interesting day.
