Platform 2 Paddington

Most of the day was spent travelling from Bearsted to Weston super Mare for a meeting tomorrow. Got a very good deal for a first class return ticket and a Travelodge hotel which always makes a trip enjoyable.

Although delayed the train to London didn’t cause me to miss my train at Paddington (no sign of that Bear). However, the loos were closed, the first class lounge closed owing to a burst pipe and the nearest loos were on Platform 12. A close run thing.

The West Country line is a joy to travel on, mostly rural with great views in crisp bright light. Changed trains at Bristol for the stopper to Weston-Super-Mare getting off at Weston Milton as it was closer to the hotel.

Had a brisk walk to the seafront, didn’t see much but the sea was in, I could hear the roar. Will see more tomorrow. Looks like we’re in for some pretty wild weather overnight.

An undistinguished meal at the Marsdens pub next to the hotel. Nowhere near as good as the one I went to in Lutterworth last week. Pastry on the pie was rock hard, the second one was better but not a lot. The server tried her best to put things right!
