Lumps, bumps and holes in the ground

Just putting the finishing touches to a talk I'm giving to the Commons Society next month called "Lumps, bumps and holes in the ground: a history of Chailey Common". My colleague is covering the first 5,914 years and I'm doing the years from 1914 to 1966. The lumps and bumps are drovers trails and old field patterns while the holes in the ground are mostly practice trenches, weapons pits and other military remains from its 180 years as an army training ground.
