Early morning view of the Brindabellas
This morning I set of early on what was, mostly, an urban hike. Usually when I go to the Pinnacle I drive through the suburbs and focus my walk there. Today I decided to walk there. Once there I knew that I would meet my distance target if I turned around and came straight back, but I felt the need to reward my hike with some time in the bush :) I walked a little further than I had planned (all up 9.39 km instead of my planned 8). It was a delightfully cool morning, the scent of eucalypts heightened by early morning rain. The sound of bird song made me wonder why so many walkers wear earphones. I heard a strange call and looked in vain to find what miraculous creature was making the noise. Later, thanks to the wonders of the internet and youtube, I was able to identify it as a tawny frogmouth call.
Don't you just love our summer skies! (as I write this the temperature has hit 29 degrees and the cool has disappeared).
