Altered landscapes

Over the past month contractors have been working on the reserve using heavy machinery to create new scrapes by removing the bracken rhizomes. The scrapes will be seeded with heather from the surrounding remnants of lowland heath.Unfortunately the budget for this work doesn't extend to removing the waste material. Seems  short sighted to me.
