Snowy Boxing Day

the snow arrived just before midnight at Fairmilehead. there was a slight covering on cars outside my house just as I was going to bed.

After gritting the pavements and road using grit from the grit bin, I had coffee.

After coffee, I went for a walk up to the T-Wood just Swanston Village.  It was very snowy in Fairmilehead Park, but the roads and pavements were very icy. On Swanston Road, I could see the tops of the Pentlands were experiencing very mountainous winter conditions. I could also see dots on the path up to Allermuir Hill, some appeared to be sledging down the steep slope. (Extra 1).

Swanston Village had less snow and more ice (Extra 2). It must have been very windy  Just before I turned around to head home, I took two shots looking NW(Extra 3). The Ochil Hills have snow on the tops, but Fife and Clackmannanshire seem to have avoided the snow. (East Lothian was the same). I skidded back to Swanston Village and Swanston Rd.

Near Oxgangs Rd,the sun had melted some of the ice and snow on south facing pavements. I retraced my steps back to Fairmilehead Park where I took the main blip. The snow was quite deep here. It was nice to see quite a few children enjoying the snow on sledges. The sun was low in the sky, and the tree shadows went across most of the park. I decided to shoot in to the sun.

Spent the afternoon sorting out the photos I took in the morning. Coffee and christmas cake very nice.
