Spot the birdie.

A glorious sunny morning, and so we drove east to RSPB Blacktoft Sands.
When we got there some other birdwatchers directed us to the hide where we could see a special bird. A Green Winged Teal.
Well as you can see from the photo, there were rather a lot of birds on the lagoon. A few hundred. Among them a lot of Teal, and we certainly couldn't see which was the green winged one, especially as they were huddled up because of the wind. They actually all have green feathers on their wings, but the Green Teal has a prominent white bar at the front of the flanks.

Anyhow it didn't matter as we had a lovely morning walking round the reserve.
The sunlight on the reeds was beautiful.
We did see quite a few marsh harriers, flying over the reeds, hunting for prey.

A drive round to Adlingfleet where we were told there were some Hooper Swans feeding in the fields. We did spot them in the distance, and had a good view through the binoculars, but no chance of any photos.

We were lucky as it then started raining, and we certainly had the best part of the day at the reserve.
As usual we picked up a few bags of wood on the way home. Hope it may keep us going until the New Year.
