Little Gem
Crocus laevigatus is one of the smallest flowered autumn crocuses. Flowering a little later than many of the other species, different forms can flower from October until after Christmas. Caught in the late morning sunshine it's a little gem.
A day of weird weather, even here in the East where the stormy winds passed us by. It seems that an unusually high level of Saharan dust and smoke/debris from fires on the Iberian peninsula, has accompanied the dying hurricane. Here this caused a sudden darkening around 445, almost dark at 5pm with an eerie bronze quality to the light. By 6pm there was a spectacular golden glow as the sun set. A few extras to illustrate this unusual phenomenon.
