Scarborough
Monday 16th October 2017 (1878)
I have backblipped yesterday's start of the holiday.
We decided on a gentle morning. I had a little lie in then got up and enjoyed reading a book in the conservatory while my friend got up. Unfortunately she then had a call to say her mum had been taken ill. We then had a quick hour of packing up again and sorting the house out - our holiday swiftly brought to a close before it had really started.
My friend headed home and I decided to spend some time in Scarborough. It looked rather misty and the light was strange down on the beach. I felt I was taking sunset pictures of the sea but it was mid-day. I had a wander along the beach, up through the gardens to the town and then sat outside with some Yorkshire fish and chips. By the time I returned to the car the light was going rather redish - see extra picture of the sun. On the drive home it was rather eerie. I later discovered it was the result of hurricane Ophelia and people had experienced it all over the uk, some feeling that it was the apocalypse. It was rather odd.
I have now relocated my holiday to Mum's house in Leeds (with wifi!), although I am on my own as she is in France. Not quite the week I had been looking forward to but I do hope my friend's mum is ok. My thoughts and prayers are with her.
