Symphony Hall, Birmingham
This evening we went to a concert at Birmingham's Symphony Hall. Birmingham is fortunate in having a world class orchestra in the CBSO, and we love going to their concerts. We have splashed out on tickets for fourteen of the new season of concerts, and tonight's was the first.
We like to sit on one of the side ledges where you get an excellent view of the orchestra. Don't worry - the orchestra and a decent sized audience did turn up. We were in our seats very early when I took this photo.
The concert was very enjoyable, starting with a Weber overture followed by the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1. The highlight though was the Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5. I was surprised at how little I knew this piece. Only the 3rd movement was familiar, but the rest of it is absolutely fabulous.
