Birthday Celebrations III

There are two pubs in the neighbouring village of Barnt Green. One of them, the Barnt Green Inn, has long been a very fine dining pub. The other, the Victoria, was a rather underwhelming local until a recent substantial makeover which has transformed it into another dining pub.

Today, being G's birthday, was the perfect excuse to see if the food measures up to the standard of the Barnt Green Inn. We booked a table for 7pm and invited along our friend B who I regularly have drinks with on Wednesday evenings.

Unfortunately I couldn't get away from work in Derby as early as I'd have liked, and there was bad traffic congestion on the way home, which meant I was late picking G up from work and it was a big rush to get to the pub on time.

We made it a few minutes late, which wasn't the best start to the evening, but the pub was excellent and the food was delicious.

We are lucky to have two such good quality eating places so close to home.
