Autumn Harbinger

While our friends "down under" are celebrating the first day of Spring, here in the UK September brings Autumn and the last flourish of live in the garden before it takes its winter's rest.

In my garden, the Michaelmas Daisies are coming into bloom, with their reminder of my first school, St Michael's. These flowers originally came from the garden of I the house I grew up in, and my sister and I used to take bunches of the flowers to school on Michaelmas Day at the end of September as part of the school's Saints Day celebrations
