Blue field
In a local field there’s a large strip of bright blue Phacelia tanacetifolia or Tansy leafed phacelia flowers. They have domed clusters of small blue flowers on curved stalks which unfurl looking like scorpion tails giving it an alternative name of Scorpion Flower. The extra shows flowers that I blipped September. Usually it is planted as green manure and ploughed in to enrich the soil and because the flowers are very rich in nectar they are very attractive to bees, butterflies and other insects so helping to pollinate crops. In Germany it is called the Bee’s Friend “Bienen-freund”
I have now completed my back blips if you are interested.
An entry to Bobsblip’s August wideangle challenge T for Tansy leafed phacelia.
