1638 leaves Northiam for Tenterden

A day as crossing keeper at Northiam annoying all the motorists on the main road to the coast as I worked the gates for each departure and arrivals. I know I caught one pair of bikers twice; on their way out and on their way back. They were good humoured about it as was everyone else, or at least I didn't hear any adverse comments but you never know.

Always pleasant at Northiam, nice people, enjoyable place to sit between trains and talk to passengers and staff. Time to have a strum on the ukulele too. Time flies, trains were on time and all too soon the day's service was over. As if often the case I follow the last train back to Tenterden by road getting caught myself at Rolvenden and Cranbrook while the train crosses the road at these two locations. I can hardly complain can I?

I'm back at Northiam in a couple of weeks time with my first learning turn in Northiam Signalbox - I'm looking forward to that.
