Union Canal, Edinburgh

An eclectic mix today. Drove part the way into Edinburgh, parking at Kingsknowe and walking in to the city along the Union Canal. A quick coffee and a shared oat and raisin cookie from a coffe bar on a narrow boat sustained us until Princes Street.

We had a good look around Waterstones then trotted up to the Festival Theatre Cafe for lunch with Barbara and Doreen before they went to see a shot.

After lunch we walked to the National Portrait Gallery to see an exhibition of photographs from the Scottish Collection of images of transportation. We had time to meander into the Modern Portrait Gallery which proved to be very interesting.

From the Gallery it was a short hop to the Guildford Arms, a fine pub on West Register Street for a couple of drinks. We were enjoying our drinks when we realised that one of us would have to drive back from the bus stop where we’d parked the car. It was a struggle but I managed to finish Susan’s drink!

Today’s blip is on the Union Canal in the bright and surprisingly warm sunshine.
