Festive Fun? A Matter Of Opinion
After much anticipation we took the Flumlet to a couple of Fringe shows. First, the Bubble Man (see extra), which was recommended by friends but proved a disappointment to him. I think he had wanted to have a bubble for himself, rather than watch them float up to the ceiling, though there were quite sophisticated techniques demonstrated, like this of a smoke-filled bubble which vented from the top.
But throughout this show the Flumlet was really waiting to go to see the dinosaur, a different show which took place after lunch, in a different venue. And that was also a disappointment as, despite being a most impressive model, the dinosaur, (which starred in my blip of last Sunday) seemed almost incidental to a rather loose plot and took so long to appear on set that the children had all but given up waiting for it. For some odd reason, it and its 'handler' spoke with an unconvincing Scottish accent (perhaps assuming that their audience was comprised of visitors). And to cap it all, the beast didn't even take a 'curtain call' but sneaked off backstage, never to be seen again.
Oh well, at least he enjoyed his lunch and we gave his Mummy a few hours of peace to get on with her work
