A very early start to join the Rocky Mountaineer travelling from Banff to Kamloops today.
 
The views from the upper decks are magnificent, plenty of space to move around and an open viewing area for window free photography. The dining area is on the lower deck and the plentiful supply of food started with breakfast. No fear of going hungry or thirsty on this trip.
 
The staff provide a commentary on the things to see and history of the development of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The pace of travel is steady so that you can see the scenes passing, rather than whizzing by. It is on a single track with passing areas. The freight trains we pass can have 300+ units of rolling stock.
 
The scenery changed significantly by the time we got to Kamloops. I have included two pictures taken along the way. Wildlife sighting included bald eagles and a cute looking juvenile black bear sitting close to the track.
    
We stayed in a hotel for the night.
