The view from the hotel along the lake is in yesterday's extras

This morning we walked along the lakeside for a couple of hours. I was surprised at the number of guests that we saw on the route and other walkers heading across the mountains paths. There were loads of wild flowers and the cheeky little chap in extras was approaching walkers to see if we had anything to give him!!
 
After lunch we set out for Banff again, visiting a train tunnel system, built to cope with the gradient  of the track, and more lakes on the way.

We are staying at the Banff Springs Hotel for the night. A very special treat. When we were here in 1996 we took the bus from town up to see it and I promised myself that we would stay there on day!!! (One of those bucket list places)
   
I’ve posted a picture of the ballroom in extras, to give you a taste of the style of the hotel. The best exterior shot is from the other side of the river, but we weren’t over there this time.
