First Summer Butterfly

Wow!  What a treat to see this pristine (newly hatched?) Peacock Butterfly on our walk by the River Ericht in Blairgowrie this afternoon.  This is the first one I've seen this summer!

Apart from this lovely creature, the walk wasn't as pleasant as it might have been,  The weeds and bushes have been allowed to grow so tall in places that you can hardly see the river; irresponsible dog walkers have not picked up after their pets so you have to watch where you put your feet;  the recently cut grass has been left to lie so sticks to your shoes when wet; the path is full of puddles etc, etc.    I blame the rain for most of it and that wasn't long in putting in an appearance too:-)

In fact, when we got home, we had to sit in the car for about 5 minutes as it came down in torrents round us!  There is blue sky now, so just our bad timing, but at least we didn't get soaked.
