High Force

It happens to be the name of this waterfall, but could equally describe the gales howling round our little cottage:-)

A short drive around today to get our bearings and lots of lovely detours and walks. Pity about the grey skies and rather chilly temperatures, but hope things will improve from tomorrow.

Visited Stanhope and crossed the River Wear both ways by stepping stones. Pity I can't do extras on the iPad or I could show you a little puppy crossing too, which was very sweet! Got chatting to a local guy, who recommended a good place for lunch and he was spot on:-)

We've also found a great coffee and cake shop and it's only a 5 minute drive away, so we'll be back:-)
