Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

That chap again!

Archie had one of his 'turns' last night. It started about 10.30, and didn't stop till about 6am. JR held him tightly as usual, hands over his eyes, and this usually calms him and he falls asleep within minutes. Not last night. He kept trying to run off, and indeed, he did run around the house for a while, occasionally flopping down to sleep for short periods. Eventually, about 6am, he lay and slept on the sofa. Phew. It's most distressing, because he's obviously scared, doesn't know what's happening, and he doesn't respond to his name, or indeed, treats.

He was fine when I took him to the vet in the morning, so of course, it was a waste of time really. We have to wait until there's a pattern before they test for epilepsy. *gulp*

However, today he's back to normal. But we're not...

We popped into the Royal Mile, perchance to book some Fringe shows. Nae chance! The queue was a mile long. We'll do it online.

We had a wander through the crowds, and actually, there were lots of dogs. This chap is here year after year. We had to get in a sort of queue for him, he was proving very popular with a group of ladies (of a certain age) who all wanted a photo with him brandishing his sword at their necks, for some odd reason. I thought that was slightly inappropriate these days, and asked him to put away his sword for Archie's snap.

We took him up the hill in the afternoon. He ran up and down the slope for the ball (using the thrower) (I was using it, not him) then JR decided to walk home with him, it was such a lovely evening.

Fingers crossed for a whole night's sleep for all of us tonight. I hope Archie doesn't have nightmares about that hairy kilted man I made him pose with.
