A wet day in Tollcross
What a miserable day. It drizzled, then mizzled, then just rained. Usually we have some sunny periods, but not today, though if I believe my weather app, it should dry up this evening for a doggie walk.
JR did her executive housekeeping stint, then went to the gym. I also managed to go on the bike for half an hour, distracting myself from the pain by watching a WW1 programme presented by Paxman.
When I got home, the pain continued. No, not my knees, another body part that gives me gyp sometimes - my toe! I get cramp in my Skechers, the comfiest of shoes, but I can get to the gym and back by hobbling. The cramp usually goes away after a period with my shoe off.
I had to go to Tollcross, it being the location of our nearest Post Office, where I needed to renew my driving licence. I put my comfy shoes on to go out, thinking the cramp would fix itself. But no. I had to hobble around, which added to my general misery.
I did not dilly dally because of the mizzle and my cramped toe. Well, actually I did - I popped in to a cafe that Rufus and his mum frequent. Lots of nice pasties, savoury and sweet, for sale. I bought a couple of individual mushroom and pepper pies for tea, forgetting that JR is not the world's biggest mushroom fan...
Here are some views of the area - the pub, the tattoo parlour, the cafe mural and the church garden where I waited for the bus.
JR went out in the afternoon to sort out some bank stuff, then took Archie out to the Links when the rain had stopped, where he had a good charge around with a collie cross. He's snoozing happily now. I'm happy too - my toe has at last settled down, there's some weak evening sunshine and the Athletics are on tv.
