Diary of an Edinburgher

London Day Six

Today we drove south through wonderful forested countryside (I think we were in Sussex) and excellent roads (thanks, sat nav). We were visiting my cousin and her husband for lunch.

We stopped off in Horsham, as we'd heard that the Bill's restaurant there was in a marvellous old building. Of course, we should have booked - weekend breakfasts at Bill's are a way of life in these parts. However, there was a great wee cafe right next to it, with home made pastries (just out of the oven) and an excellent flat white.

In fact, we rather liked Horsham, with its pedestrianised centre and lots of nice eateries.

We had a super time with the cuzzies - with a lunch under the trees in the garden. Everything was home grown - the lamb (they breed prize sheep), the potatoes, tomatoes and beetroot. Wonderful. The three gorgeous Vizslas were slummocking around in the heat, gorgeously.

We whizzed back through the lovely evening sunshine and round the M25 in no time. We're getting very used to all this city driving.

Home tomorrow. We've had such a lovely time exploring this part of the world. But it will be nice to be out of this heat...
