We'd decided to do the boring things today as the weather forecast was not special. So it was off to Newton Abbott to buy a new loo seat for the chalet and then Tescos for some food shopping.
After lunch we walked over the Shaldon Approach Golf Course down to The Ness for coffee.
This evening we went over to Dawlish Warren to meet up with Sue and Steve, some kind of distant relations of Ann's, at their holiday cottage. We then had a very pleasant walk along the banks of the Exe to Cockwood and The Ship Inn.
The small country pub was heaving as usual but Steve had booked a table and we had a lovely meal and a couple of pints of Doom Bar. Whilst waiting for our food a troop of sea shanty singers, who were performing that evening next door at the village hall, came in to lubricate their larynx and gave an impromptu rendition of one of their songs.
Later it was back to the cottage for a few games of cards, I think I broke even by the end of the session.
The photo shows Teignmouth and beyond taken from the second hole on the golf course. Between the trees can just be seen the roof of The Ness; that is the level of the first tee off.
