Exe Estuary Trail

We met Colin for morning coffee in Dawlish then drove out to Powderham Church, St. Clements, close by the grounds of Powderham Castle.

After a picnic lunch we walked to The Turf along the Exe Estuary Trail, a walk and cycle way that transverses both banks of the Exe from Dawlish to Exmouth via Exeter and Topsham. The Turf is only accessible via boat, cycle or walking, not sure how they take deliveries.

It was a lovely walk along the banks of the River Exe with plenty of wildlife to see; five examples of which are featured on today's photo (yes OK the bullock is not strictly wildlife, though I'm not sure I'd like to be in the field with him). The seagull is included especially for rozwood1970.

We then returned to Powderham Castle for a pot of Earl Grey.

Later we went to the last evening of Jazz Week where a lively group was playing rag time jazz. One thing I like about jazz groups is that invariably the members are over 60, i.e. my age; but young at heart in their attitude to music. Listening to the music is reminiscent of my youth when I used to frequent 100 Club on Oxford Street, London, where I saw all the then current jazz groups including Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Humphrey Lyttelton et al
