Dramatic Italy

In this part of Italy the countryside is dramatic with the Appennines literally falling into the sea. The coast road was spectacular if a little narrow!! Above Maratea built right at the edge of the cliff is "Christ the Redeemer" a 22 metre statue of Jesus overlooking the town apparently second only to the statue in Rio de Janeiro. Just below the statue are the remains of the original 8th-century-BC Greek colony
