Rivello
It seemed to us that everywhere we looked there were pretty villages built sitting on precipitous hills with churches taking pride of place always sited at the very top. Rivello was typical with lots of step through twisty narrow streets, but at the top of this village was a beautiful cathedral. We apparently arrived soon after a wedding had been completed. The priest was still there and was delighted that we had come all the way from England to see his cathedral. Down at the bottom of the village is an old monastery which now houses a museum and has stunning frescoes on the walls of the cloisters. I discovered later that visits are supposed to be booked but the curator kindly opened up for us. The main piece here is the fresco of the last supper by Giovanni Todisco in 1559. It is quite stunning and I'm not sure I have done it justice. It is difficult to portray the detail of the painting in a photo.
