CAT funicular
Today we visited the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) near Corris. It is a centre of excellence for green technology and provides a learning environment for both children and adults. Situated on a hillside, the centre is approached via a water powered funicular railway. A tank under each carriage is filled at the top and emptied at the bottom and so the funicular works much like Gerrard Hoffnung's infamous brick barrels (from his wonderful Oxford Union address) but in a much more controlled manner!
