The Dean's Welcome

A full lecture theatre today, with around 350 new undergraduate students from courses across the school to hear the welcome message from our Dean.

I thought he got the tone just right, telling students that they are joining an academic community where everyone learns from each other. He reminded them of the need to work hard but also of the importance of enjoying their time at the university. I way pleased that he didn't shy away from the issue of the late finishing building works. He didn't make hollow excuses and managed to emphasise the positive aspects of the redevelopment.

All in all - I was impressed.
