Togetherness

Well.... what can I say about today.... It started well! The boys and I were up and dressed and downstairs before breakfast, before 8.30am. Then last night's late night caught up with us. Well, definitely with me. Pam went home at a very reasonable time, but Steve and I had been inspired to sort out themessymama and ended up staying up til gone 1am in the end.

This morning's achievement is a big pile of earth next to the boys' digging patch. Ben's big digger is also outdoors. Starting to dig it all out with a baby on my back wanting to sleep was not my best move! Charley went to sleep on the bed, Ben did some digging, I stayed with Charley, Steve didn't get a great deal done what with all the distractions. Thank goodness for lunch and school.

Only, Charley is lost when Ben is at school! Eventually he got so bored he did what he used to do last term, and went to sleep. Nursing. So I fiddled with website, Steve did some other work, and Charley woke up in time for me to go pick Ben up again. So.... I can't get any work done when Ben is here, and I can't when he's not here...

Charley was giddy with happiness when Ben got home, and Ben was his usual tolerant self as Charley shrieked happily and bashed him on the head; Charley follows him around the living room like a puppy, playing alongside him as often as Ben will let him, doing his best to follow him into the kitchen and back, getting upset when Ben is simply too fast for him. Idolises his big brother. Lost without him. And Ben loves his kid brother too, which makes me one happy mama.... most of the time....!

Another screaming bedtime from Charley, seriously unimpressed at having to get ready for bed, but who settled as soon as I lay down next to him; and that was me out for two hours!! Catching up on Doctor Who before turning in ourselves, hopefully before 1am tonight :-/
