Francis E Lester

Rob managed to get around to strimming the far end of the orchard where the hens live at the weekend.
Strolling around the new found land I rediscovered this fine rambling rose growing by the hedge.
Francis E Lester was born in England but emigrated to California (why wouldn't you?) where he founded a rose growing business. He died in 1945 and they named this rose after him. I believe the rose nurseries still going today so I shall put it on my gardens to visit list!
