Not a Poppy

After a long week seemingly spent in and out of meetings, today I had the urge to find some poppies.  I took a leisurely drive out into the Hampshire countryside to places where I seen them in past years - but no luck.

Eventually I stopped at Whitehill, a viewpoint on the North Hampshire Downs, and took a walk along public footpaths enjoying the views, singing birds and wild flowers.

I rather liked this flower, but had been unable to identify it despite an intensive Google search session - all I know is that it is not a poppy!
