Orta San Giulio
In the morning we had a leisurely drive over to Cernobbio for lunch on our way to delivering our guest back to Malpensa for her flight home. We parked the car at Malpensa and accompanied her to the baggage drop. The departures area of Terminal 2 was absolutely packed. We were very relieved we were not embarking on a flight today. Maybe Saturday is not the greatest day to travel.
After Malpensa we proceeded to Orta San Giulia where we are going to spend the evening. Orta was also very busy. There are public car parks at the entrance to the village which were all full , and people were cruising around looking for a space. We carried on to the multi story car park a little closer in and found a space without too much difficulty.
It was as hot as usual during the afternoon, but there was a heavy rain storm while we were having dinner, luckily our table was under cover so we were unconcerned as people around rushed for cover!
The photograph shows the small island of Isola San Giulio dominated by the Benedictine monastery.
