Isola San Giulio

The same view as yesterday but by daylight. After a light breakfast we took a ferry over to the island. Though we have been to Orta previously we had not been to the island. It is very small and probably only took us about half an hour (or less) to walk around. If we eavesdropped on a tour guide correctly there are only three permanent residents on the island, presumably apart from the occupants of the monastery.

After lunch we drove back to Lenno. Not too much traffic and no hold ups apart from an accident near Moltrasio where a motorcyclist had crashed into the side of a car. The newspaper said he was in serious condition and his passenger had been taken to hospital by helicopter.

We arrived back about 5pm, just in time to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine.
