A few weeks ago I posted a picture of the Villa Carlotta taken from a calendar. Today we took a boat over to Varenna, on the way we pass the Villa Carlotta I attempted to take a photograph from the same place as in the painting I had posted earlier. Here is the earlier photograph for comparison.


In Varenna we had lunch and later took another ferry over to Menaggio. We had a drink in a bar in the piazza, and were about to take a walk in the town when it started to rain. So we moved to a different table under shelter and had another drink!


Today was Liberation Day in Italy, a public holiday. The shops and the ships on the lake were running normally, however buses were on a Sunday schedule. After having waited a while for a bus we concluded it would be a couple of hours until the last bus back to Lenno. We decided to take a taxi, a rare luxury after the walking yesterday.
