Over the border
How nice to wake up to sunshine again! We decided to take a day off from domestic and gardening stuff and head to the hills. Well as far into the hills as my knee would allow. It still is not too good and I have to wait until early July to see a specialist, however following yesterday's yoga practice I did notice it felt a bit better.
So we headed south over to Northumberland and into the Cheviot hills. I really enjoy these Border hills and usually we rarely meet other walkers. However, I forgot that this is a holiday week for English schools and the valley we chose to explore was busy, busy. It was nice busy though with lots of family groups setting up windbreaks and picnics beside the river Breamish. Good old fashioned family picnics, we felt we had travelled back in time! We walked to Linhope Spout, a refreshing looking waterfall with inviting plunge pool. Some brave souls were taking a dip. My knee held up quite well. The walk was only 3 miles, but that's progress for me. We heard a cuckoo and we had the joy of a red squirrel skipping ahead of us on the path.
Extra image is Linhope Spout, a struggle to photograph without getting other folk in the picture.
