Aspiring

After a slow start to the day, we popped down to Chichester this afternoon for a bit of a browse and to pay the peregrine falcons a visit. En route we had lunch at the Partridge in Singleton, which was very good indeed.

The little peregrines are doing well and the RSPB guy told me that they had their first live meal today (a starling, which they had to kill before eating). We had a look through the scopes and saw the female sitting on the edge of the nest turret (the one on the right), keeping watch over her brood, and the male pulling a wood pigeon apart on the food preparation ledge (between the middle and left-hand turrets). As we left we could hear the chicks making the excited noise they make when food arrives so the dad must have just dropped the pigeon in to them at that point. It was much the same here at dinner time when Mr DawnAgain produced a stir fry for Sons 1 and 2.
