Wet day

Colour would have been prettier but quite liked the change to mono. Busy day packing the van, cleaning and making a couple puds - Mary Berry's Canterbury Tart - one for tonight and another to go in the little freezer in the van. Might come in handy on our return home.

We have loved this time away, nearly a month, but definitely ready for home on Tuesday. Our own sitters tend to allow for some delay in the owners return where ferries are concerned, we thought this a good idea. This couple are coming from Stornaway this afternoon. If all goes to plan we will head off Sunday morning - who knows where - and then plan a route home taking in a supermarket on the way.

When we arrived last Friday two adult moorhens had 5 chicks, at the last count earlier all are still here. I didn't attempt a pic, very wary creatures. And if you look closely a gulls head can be seen on the roof of the pondside house, both gulls have been very attentive all week seeing off all intruders. And joy of joys there are a pair of woodpeckers using the feeders close to the house, wonderful.
