Beaver

We were at the Mount Holyoke College campus early this morning, checking out an area for a bird walk which we will lead early Friday, as part of Marylee's 50th reunion (she graduated in 1967; following that I will give a presentation of bird photos). Afterwards we had breakfast with a few of her classmates at a dining facility overlooking a pond. This beaver came out of the water for a few seconds just twice, and I managed this shot as he scrambled back the second time;  it's rare to see them this well out of the water at all :)
