Oops!
A strange rumbling noise, Ollie running to the window, and then a loud crunch. The truck is used by the lad next door, but it belongs to his boss. Luckily nobody was in the truck at the time, and the lad's son wasn't playing on the beach, although he had been earlier on. The most likely explanation is that the handbrake hadn't been applied sufficiently . . .
I moved our dinghy and car well out of the way to give the recovery vehicles room to manoeuvre, and retreated to the upstairs window for a better view of proceedings!
The recovery operation took more than two hours, with a forklift truck, several slings and plenty of rope and four men. Photo in extra. Quite a performance, and against the clock too, as the tide was coming in, but they managed it. I don't know whether it will be written off or not - there are rumours of a twisted chassis.. . .
