Watching the cricket
I spent several hours watching Todmorden v Lowerhouse this afternoon. I thought my photo choice for the day would be an action shot, like this six being scored for Todmorden, this wicket falling, a batsman going for a second run or the odd semaphore signals at the start. I almost selected a shot of the very friendly crowd at Todmorden's attractive ground. The Club has played cricket since 1837. The Yorkshire-Lancashire border runs through the town. Although it is currently in the care of Yorkshire, for many years the cricket team have played in the Lancashire Leagues. The club badge has both Lancashire's red and Yorkshire's white rose. I was also tempted by a picture of a colourful garden, next to the ground.
But I chose this one, of a woman in a white hat which stood out against a darker background, because that summed-up the calm delight of watching the cricket on a pleasant Spring day.
