Home at the range
The Beamish museum was as good as expected. I was particularly impressed with the 1820s farm but the shops and the pit village circa 1910 and the 1940s farm were also excellent. I was able to check that the many clocks were correctly contemporary! They all were and quite a few were in working order. It was good they had the fires going in many of the cottages as it was a welcome opportunity to warm up on a raw day. I hadn't been down a coal mine before nor seen the way sweets were made traditionally.
