White-winged Dove
I spotted the return of these doves about a month ago and finally decided to post one. Related to the Mourning Dove, but a larger and bulkier bird, it's easily distinguishable by it's blue painted face, white-striped wings and orange eye. Almost always a resident of Mexico and points south, the White-wing is mainly a summer resident in the southwestern states. It is also found along the Gulf coast and parts of Florida. In desert areas, this dove often feeds on the fruits of cactus, and visits their flowers for nectar; it is an important pollinator of the giant saguaro cactus. More from Audubon.

The Sawmill fire is now over 90% contained. For a state well-known for wildfires, it ended up being the 13th largest in the state's history. The cost to fight the fire through Sunday has been $5.6 million.
